Week 4 Drawing and Painting for 3rd-5th Grade: Steampunk
Our 3rd-5th grade artists this week took on drawing challenges inspired by the speculative Steampunk genre, an alternate history where technology is made of clockwork and steam power. Campers had tons of fun drawing fantastical characters and DaVinci and H.G. Wells inspired air ships. They especially enjoyed attaching all the 3D gears to their designs!

Week 4 Teen Improv to Sketch
For our performing arts camp of the week, teens learned from former Second City instructor Amanda Rountree how to use improv skills to create scenes that they developed into a variety sketch comedy show.
Week 5 K-2 Drawing & Painting: Global Adventures
Campers in our K-2 Drawing and Painting Camp went on a whirlwind adventure around the world through their art projects this week. Some of the students chose to share their maps of Italy, and one was proud of their trip to Thailand!

Week 5 Teen Figure Drawing and Character Creation
Teen artists challenged themselves this week with intensive drawing exercises that taught how to pose the human figure and draw faces at different angles. Then they applied these skills (adding elements and principles of design) to create their own original characters.

There is one more week of Teen Figure Drawing and Character Design left for any young illustrators who want to sharpen their design skills!
Bonus: Week 2 Create-A-Play Video Now Available
Thanks to our own Leslie Murphy for providing the video footage for Week 2's Elementary Create-A-Play! Amanda Rountree led this talented group of 1st-5th graders through the collaborative creation of their very own original play. The campers had a ton of fun coming up with their characters and plot, learning acting and improv skills along the way.
For young performers who are interested in learning more acting skills, Amanda Rountree will be offering an Improv for Early Grades and Improv for Middle Grades class in the Fall I Session!
We have just a few weeks left of summer camp, but there are still some seats available! Join us for some summer fun before school starts, and don't forget to check out our Fall classes for all ages!
