Week 1 Summer Camp Art Show

We just finished our first week of summer camp for the year! It was so exciting to have all the campers back in our building and filling the halls with laughter and loud conversations.
Back in the pre-Covid days of camp, we used to hang all the work created in the camp week on the walls in their classrooms for a little end-of-camp art show. It was fun to see all the artwork, but it did cause some challenges for Friday pickup and ate into the time needed to finish projects. So now we're bringing the art show to you on our blog!
This week was our first week trying this new aspect of camp. We asked campers who wanted to participate to pick out their favorite pieces so that we could photograph and share them.
Drawing & Painting: Robots
Grades K-2nd
Our youngest campers were hard at work this week making various robot creatures and even wearable robot props! They had trouble picking their favorites, so we have collected a bunch of robot pieces for you:

We have one more week of Robot Camp available, held Week 7 (July 6-10)!
Drawing & Painting: Mythical Creatures
Grades 3rd-5th
Our 3rd-5th grade camp was one of the most focused and hard working camps this week. Our students chose to be photographed with their favorite pieces for this blog:

Our next Mythical Creatures camp is coming up quickly! Week 3, June 8-12, is the last chance for this camp theme this summer.
Sparkle Camp
Grades 2nd-6th
Our Sparkle campers had a wild time with glitter and gemstones all week! Only two students chose to have their work photographed, but they did a great job with their sparkly creations!

Ceramics
Grades 2nd-6th
Our young Ceramics campers' creativity was on full display this week. It's hard to believe all these pieces were made from what is essentially mud:

Pottery
Grades 7th-12th
Our teen potters had an excellent time learning the challenging art of wheel throwing! In addition to their beautiful plates and bowls, they also got to play with some handbuilding to make fun sculptural pieces. Hopefully they enter these pieces into our High Honors exhibition so that more people can see them in person.

Summer camps are filling up, but we still have seats available in some camps every week! We can't wait to see what our campers create this week!
