With so much considered disposable in our modern world, Upcycled calls for artists who challenge this notion and celebrate sustainability by incorporating recycled and reclaimed materials as a primary component in their work. SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Entry Fee: $10 for up to 3 works
Open to artists 18 and older
All mediums welcome, but at least 50% of each piece must be made with recycled or reclaimed materials.
All work must be the creation of the artist. No AI work will be considered.
Work should be fully finished and ready to hang.
25 lb weight limit for 2-dimensional work
50 lb weight limit for 3-dimensional work
48”x48” maximum size
Submissions should include an artist statement about the process and how the work relates to sustainability.

The Art Center Fall Student Member Exhibition:
I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues

“The deeper the blue becomes, the more strongly it calls man towards the infinite, awakening in him a desire for the pure and, finally, for the supernatural… The brighter it becomes, the more it loses its sound, until it turns into silent stillness and becomes white.” – Wassily Kandinsky
The blues can be color, emotion, memory, a landscape, a melody, or metaphor. The Art Center invites artists to submit work exploring the many interpretations of the blues. Inspired by Elton John’s song title, I Guess That’s Why They Call It the Blues, this exhibition explores the richness and complexity of blue and blues in all its forms. It may be that your color palette leans toward indigo skies, cobalt, and cerulean. Maybe your work reflects grief, longing, loneliness, healing, resilience, or quiet contemplation. Maybe it celebrates the musical tradition of the Blues or explores personal stories of perseverance and joy found on the other side of hardship. We want to see artwork that embraces blue as color or idea. Whether abstract or representational, subtle or bold, humorous or heartbreaking, we invite you to show us your blues. You might explore: the color blue, blues as music or cultural history, melancholy and longing, solitude and reflection, water, sky, atmosphere, and nature, memory and nostalgia.
These ideas are offered simply as inspiration. Creative interpretations are encouraged.

ELIGIBILITY AND SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
- Open to all current members and students who have taken a class at TAC within the last 12 months.
- If you are taking a class enter in the STUDENT category. Students and members will be judges separately.
- All artwork must be an original creation of the submitting artist, AI work will not be considered.
- Eligible media includes mixed media, ceramics, drawings, fiber art, printmaking, painting, collage, digital art, photography, and sculpture. Contact the curator with questions about the eligibility of a particular medium at: afoster@itstheartcenter.org
- Each artist may submit two works for consideration. If you are a student, you may submit two works from each class in which you are currently enrolled. All artists will be guaranteed acceptance of one work.
- 2D Work: Maximum framed size is not to exceed 48 inches x 48 inches outside dimensions and weigh no more than 20 lbs.
- For the safety of our staff and guests, works on paper should be framed with either acrylic or plexiglass.
- Works must arrive dry and ready to hang with wire appropriate to size, weight, frame type and structure.
- Sawtooth hangers are not recommended for works larger than 16x20 inches.
- Unframed canvases are acceptable if they are back-stapled, edges painted and include hanging wire.
- 3D Work: Entries may not exceed 50 lbs. in weight and a maximum of 24" in width. Please call the curator regarding freestanding 3D entries: 770-623-8448 or email to afoster@itstheartcenter.org
- We reserve the right to refuse any work we do not feel we can hang safely.
- Work submitted must include an identification label on the back which includes artist name, title, and price or NFS.
- All works submitted by mail must be submitted with a prepaid return label.

AWARDS, RECOGNITION, AND SALES
- There are monetary awards, ribbons, and other recognitions associated with this exhibition.
- Artists will receive 75% of proceeds on all works sold. TAC retains a 25% commission.

Beyond Borders II: Global Voices
Sept 11th - Oct 17th, 2026
The Art Center at Johns Creek cordially invites artists to submit original artwork for the upcoming juried exhibition, Beyond Borders II: Global Voices. This exhibition seeks to explore the complexity, nuance, and lived experience of cultures around the world through deeply personal and authentic artistic perspectives. This exhibition will be juried and judged by the curatorial staff of The Art Center.
We are looking for work that reflects a global viewpoint not as a generalized or stereotypical concept, but as something specific, individual, and deeply felt. Beyond Borders II aims to move beyond simplified narratives and superficial notions of multiculturalism toward a thoughtful exploration of world cultures, highlighting the richness, tension, overlap, and individuality that exist within and between communities. Artists are encouraged to submit work that offers honest, nuanced perspectives. Entries may be celebratory, critical, bold and expressive, or quiet and contemplative. Above all, the exhibition values authenticity and specificity of voice.
Themes may include, but are not limited to:
Cultural heritage and identity
Migration and diaspora
Tradition and transformation
Intersectionality and hybridity
Cultural contrast and exchange
Personal narratives within a global context
Each artist may submit up to three works for a non-refundable entry fee of $25. First Place will receive a $500 cash award. Additional generous cash prizes and recognitions will also be presented as part of the exhibition.
In conjunction with our Beyond Borders II exhibition, The Art Center is organizing a Global Art Week from Tuesday September 22nd-Friday September 25. We are seeking instructors who are interested in teaching 3 hour workshops throughout the week with a focus in global art and craft traditions. The workshops will take place within three different time slots each day (10 am-1 pm, 2 pm-5 pm, and 6 pm-9 pm).
Some examples of the kind of workshops we're seeking:
Adinkra stamping on tote bags
Creating Mandalas
Mendhi/Henna
Traditional basket weaving
Pysanky
We are of course open to other ideas! We are primarily targeting adult students with these workshops, though we'd love to have mixed age groups where parents can bring their kids or teens to do projects together.

Summer Serendipity

The Art Center is proud to announce the 12th annual juried Summer Serendipity Exhibition, a vibrant celebration of creativity, community, and artistic discovery. This year’s exhibition is especially meaningful as it coincides with the Art Center’s 30th anniversary, marking three decades of supporting and showcasing exceptional artistic talent. Summer Serendipity has grown into our most anticipated exhibition of the year, drawing artists from across the Southeast. In 2025, the exhibition featured over 200 entries, with 59 selected artists representing a diverse range of styles, mediums, and voices. This year, we look forward to building on that momentum. We invite emerging and established artists alike to submit their work for consideration. Whether your work is bold and experimental or refined and traditional, Summer Serendipity celebrates the unexpected moments of beauty, connection, and creativity that art makes possible.
This exhibition offers artists the opportunity to gain regional exposure, connect with a wide audience, and be part of a milestone year in the Art Center’s history. Join us in celebrating 30 years of art, community, and creative expression. Each artist may enter up to three works for a non-refundable entry fee of $40.00. The first place award for this competition is $1500. There are other generous cash prizes and recognitions associate with this exhibition.
