Position Title: Deputy Director
Reports to: Executive Director
Status: Full-time
Salary Range: $52,000 plus IRA Participation after initial 6 month probation period.
Location: Johns Creek, GA
Position Summary:
The Deputy Director is a key leadership position within the "The Art Center", providing strategic and operational support to the Executive Director in overseeing the organization's programs, initiatives, and day-to-day operations. This role involves collaborating with various departments to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of the Center's mission, vision, and programs. The Deputy Director will play a central role in fundraising, program development, staff management, and community outreach.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership and Strategy:

Serve as a primary point of contact for the Executive Director and provide leadership in the day-to-day operations of the art center.

Help drive the organization's mission, vision, and long-term strategic goals.

Oversee and support the planning and execution of major initiatives, programs, and special projects.

Represent the organization at community events, fundraisers, and public engagements.
2. Operations and Program Management:

Work closely with the Curator/Program Director to ensure the effective and smooth operation of all artistic and educational programs.

Support the development and implementation of new programs, exhibitions, and events that reflect the Center's mission and artistic goals.

Monitor program budgets, timelines, and outcomes, and adjust plans as needed to ensure success.

Ensure The Art Center is a professional business environment where all operational processes and procedures are executed in a smooth, effective, compliant and efficient manner
3. Fundraising and Financial Management:

Collaborate with the Executive Director and staff to identify fundraising opportunities and create a sustainable fundraising strategy.

Assist in cultivating relationships with major donors, sponsors, and grant-making organizations.

Help manage donor stewardship activities, ensuring strong engagement and communication with existing and prospective donors.
4. Staff and Volunteer Management:

Supervise and support staff, ensuring they have the resources and guidance needed to succeed in their roles. Set stretch goals and evaluate results to support continued success.

Oversee and manage instructors to ensure a consistent high standard of classes are provided

Foster a positive, inclusive, and productive work environment that values creativity, collaboration, and professional growth.

Assist in hiring, training, and evaluating staff members, instructors, and volunteers.

Oversee and manage the volunteer program to engage community members and support events and programs.
5. Community Engagement and Outreach:

Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with community partners, including artists, educators, and local organizations.

Enhance the Center's visibility and presence in the community by facilitating, collaborations and partnerships.

Promote diversity and inclusion in programming and outreach activities to ensure accessibility to all audiences.

Develop and execute marketing and communications strategies to enhance the Center's public image and awareness.
6. Administration and Reporting:

Ensure the proper administration of day-to-day operations and policies in alignment with organizational goals and industry standards.

When necessary, prepare reports, documentation, and presentations for board meetings, funders.

Assist in strategic planning and contribute to organizational assessments and evaluations.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
-
Five or more years of experience in nonprofit arts management or a similar area, with a strong background in grant writing, fundraising and organizing events.
Skills and Abilities:

Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and support a diverse team.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Demonstrated knowledge of nonprofit financial management and budgeting.

Ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and community partners. Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and organizational skills.

Passion for the arts and commitment to the mission of the nonprofit sector.

Occasional evening and weekend work required.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds for event set-ups, as needed.
