Immerse your child in a creative experience and spark their artistic talents! Your child will acquire drawing and painting skills while exploring mixed media and artistic techniques. A fun, educational, age appropriate art class for the young art enthusiast. After School Art - Students experiment with an array of materials and tools including watercolor and acrylic paints, and chalk pastels. Class is held in your child's school and begins after the school day dismissal. Includes all supplies. You must send a change of dismissal form with your child notifying the school that your child attends this after school class. Once you've registered your child for this class, an email will be sent containing the form. Please fill it out and submit it to your school. If you would like to make arrangements to set up a payment plan; please call The Art Center at 770-623-8448. - Spr) Improv for Fun and Connection
This short session is an easy way to get a taste of how the art and playfulness of improv can impact your life in a positive way. Students will get a 4-class sampling of the gifts that can come from improvising. Through enjoyable games and exercises, students who benefit from regular improv practice gain more confidence, creativity, and cognitive flexibility while exercising the basic improv skills of listening, reacting, collaborating with others, and trusting oneself. Min 4 students/Max 18 No experience necessary - Class is open to adults 18+
- Fall) Saturdays Mixed Media Grades 2-6
Mixed media for beginners is a fun introduction to painting and sculpting. This class will allow students to experiment with different materials and textures to help them discover and create exciting new material relationships. Students will be focusing on material study and we will have fun materials to experiment and play with daily. We will be exploring 2d and 3d art using materials like paper, air dry clay, newspapers/magazines, acrylics, charcoal, canvases and found objects. This class will also allow parents to stop by for any of the daily workshops for a small fee of $30 cash per class, please call ahead. Drop in fee to be paid directly to instructor upon arrival. Lesson Summary 1) Contour drawing (thumbnails) 2) Mask off (paper mache/clay masks) 3) Picasso animals (acrylic on paper) 4) Relief Portraits (3d pictures) 5) Toolboxes/jewelry boxes (carving and painting boxes) 6) Found object sculpture (incorporating found objects into your art) Includes all supplies.

Learn how to create fun, decorative, and functional clay projects! Students will explore fundamental clay skills like pinch, coil, and slab to build their own ceramic creations. They will then learn glazing and surface decorating techniques to finish off their one-of-a-kind creations! Projects differ week to week.

This class is designed for teens interested in ceramic arts. Students will learn techniques to create beautiful clay works through handbuilding and the potter's wheel. Includes all supplies.
- Week 7 Grades 7-12 Figure Drawing
Take a deep dive into figurative drawing work and learn what you need to know to make both realistic and stylized characters. This camp will explore the fundamental observational drawing skills you need to understand anatomy and form for realistic figures and then utilize the principles of design to break the rules purposefully for effective and expressive characters!
- Spr) Beg-Interm Oil & Acrylic Thur AM
Students will learn to create a painting from concept to completion in oil or acrylic media. We will focus on proper planning prior to starting a painting, as well as, basic layering and blending techniques, color mixing, handling the brush and more. Students will work at their own pace in a relaxed and supportive setting. Each session will feature 3 instructor demonstrations of beginning-intermediate painting techniques. Because everyone's needs are different, supplies will be discussed during the first class. New students, bring your sketch pad and your ideas if you've never painted before. New students who have already begun your painting journey, bring anything you're currently working on as well as materials that you already have. Returning students, bring your current painting and materials. Class size limited to 10 to provide an intimate experience with your instructor. First person storytelling shows are all the rage on stages and podcasts across the country. In this class, you will learn how to take true events from your own life and weave them into engaging performances. We will work on public speaking skills, presentation, story structure, different narrative approaches, and creating your own unique style. Each week, students will be given a new assignment for how to structure a story. Students choose their own subject matter for their personal stories. This class culminates in a graduation performance, where each student will share a 3-7 minute personal story. Class occupancy: Min 4 / Max 8
