First person storytelling shows are all the rage on stages and podcasts across the country. In this class, you will learn how to take true events from your own life and weave them into engaging performances. We will work on public speaking skills, presentation, story structure, different narrative approaches, and creating your own unique style. Each week, students will be given a new assignment for how to structure a story. Students choose their own subject matter for their personal stories. This class culminates in a graduation performance, where each student will share a 3-7 minute personal story. The benefits of learning and exercising improv skills can help any artist broaden their creativity through various enjoyable games and exercises that nurture and build confidence, mindfulness, habit-breaking techniques, and playfulness, all while boosting extra skills like collaboration, listening, and social connection. - Win) Tiny Treasures with Izzy O
Create your own characters, toys, miniature food and jewelry collection! Do you have a fascination with the teeny tiny? Join our Tiny Treasures class. Students learn how to use polymer clay and other art materials to create small figurines, adorable animals cute charms for keychains, earrings, necklaces, bracelets and much more. The possibilities are endless! Class projects include a mini game board, charm bracelet, a mini flower arrangement in a polymer clay vase and a tiny canvas painting complete with easel. No previous experience is needed for this class. Just bring a desire to learn and unlock your creative spirit! This class will also allow parents to stop by for any of the daily workshops for a small fee of $30 per class. Drop in payment will be accepted upon arrival.

Designed for youngsters in Kindergarten through 2nd Grade. These emerging artists, will have fun exploring art through a study of master artists. Students experiment with an array of materials and tools including watercolor and acrylic paints, chalk pastels, and collage. This age appropriate curriculum is based on a playful approach to art; teaching fine art techniques, art history, and building confidence. Instructed by Ms. Izzy! Includes all supplies. Improvisation is more than just a useful tool for actors, it’s a different way of approaching life. Through fun games and exercises, students will gain more confidence, more creativity, and more playfulness with the basic improv skills of listening, reacting, working with others, and trusting oneself. Not only will it make you more comfortable while thinking on your feet, it’s really fun! This class is simply eight weeks of meeting and playing in an enjoyable, supportive environment without the pressure of a final performance. Through fun games and exercises, students will learn the essential improv skills of listening, reacting, collaborating with others, and trusting oneself. Over the course of seven weeks, students will learn how to release their natural creativity and create spontaneous stories both verbally and physically. This class will culminate in an entertaining demonstration for family and friends. Students in grades 7 - 12 welcome.

- Intro to Improv
This workshop is your chance to get a small taste of how the art and fun of improv can impact your life in a positive way. In the span of just a couple of hours, students will get a small sampling of the gifts that can come from improvising. Improvisation is more than just a useful tool for actors, it's a different way of approaching life. Through enjoyable games and exercises, students who benefit from regular improv practice gain more confidence, more creativity, and more playfulness with the basic improv skills of listening, reacting, working with others, and trusting oneself. This class is designed for students with previous pottery wheel experience. Students in this class will explore various forms, surfaces and techniques of throwing on the potters wheel. There will be projects assigned throughout the class, this is a great way for the experienced potter to expand their knowledge of clay. *Included in the price of your class is a 25lb bag of clay as well as 2.5 hours of open studio time per week, to be used immediately following your class. Students may purchase 1 additional bag of clay from The Art Center over the course of the session. For a total of 50lbs maximum per session. Tool kits must be purchased by students and are available at most Dick Blick and Michaels stores. *Upcharge for porcelain clay: 1st bag $20, 2nd bag $50. Clay can be purchased at the front desk.
