  • Spr) Soy Wax Batik and Silk Painting

    This four week mini session is an exploration of expressive abstract techniques applied to silk. A contemporary approach to Batik, resulting in stunning fine art for wall hangings or unique wearable scarves. Working on a 22”x22” silk square suspended and stretched on a frame, students will employ a loose, abstract and painterly approach to create whimsical and abstract painterly compositions. Participants may bring a collection of floral photos as reference, or refer to available images provided by the instructor. Absolutely no painting or drawing experience necessary! This is an opportunity for participants to free themselves up to create intuitive, expressive and emotional art on silk. Students should bring paper towels and disposable gloves Supply fee of $25.00 payable to the instructor at the first class.

  • Spr) Monday Mini Masters

    Designed for youngsters in Kindergarten through 2nd Grade. These emerging artists, will have fun exploring art through a study of master artists. Students experiment with an array of materials and tools including watercolor and acrylic paints, chalk pastels, and collage. This age appropriate curriculum is based on a playful approach to art; teaching fine art techniques, art history, and building confidence. Instructed by Ms. Izzy! Includes all supplies. This class will also allow parents to stop by for any of the daily workshops for a small fee of $20 per class. Drop in payment will be accepted upon arrival.

  • Week 8 Grades 4-8: Anime

    Anime is a highly distinctive style of cartoon drawing which originated in Japan and enjoys immense worldwide popularity. Anime are the characters appearing in manga which are Japanese graphic novels and comic strips. There are a wide variety of manga appropriate for children through adult readers. Manga characters are instantly recognizable by their large eyes, highly stylized hair, fashionable clothing and overall expressive quality.

  • Week 9 Dynamic Drawing

    Learn about different styles using step-by-step techniques to draw and ink running figures, cartoon hands, legs, feet and more. Create your own comic book characters and design your own comic book. In this drawing-focused camp, students learn techniques and tricks of the trade allowing them to create realistic and effective artwork.

    Discover the joys of pottery in this handbuilding class for students of all levels! From crafting functional ceramics like cups and bowls to exploring your artistic side with sculpting, there's something for you. We'll guide you through different techniques while leaving room for your imagination to soar and have fun. Although this is not a project based class, projects may be assigned to assist students in expanding their handbuilding skills. Chen Pin Hsu will co-teach all Friday morning clay classes throughout March and May. Chen Pin will be the lead instructor on (Tuesday and Friday mornings) on the following dates: March 31, April 3,14, 17 *Included in the price of your class is a 25lb bag of clay as well as 2.5 hours of open studio time per week, to be used immediately following your class.     Campers will use a variety of art materials to create original work including watercolor and acrylic paints, chalk pastels, and collage. This age appropriate curriculum is based on a playful approach to art; teaching fine art techniques, art history, and building confidence. Your student will create a variety of 2D and 3D projects that truly shine! Created specifically for kids in grades K-2, held at The Art Center Children requiring a personal assistant or one-to-one (1:1) support must be accompanied by their direct support professional.

    In this class we will be creating both fun and functional pieces using the basics of handbuilding- coil, pinch, and slab. We will also explore different surface decorations such as sgraffito, slip trailing, and wax resist. This class is not project based, so bring your ideas! Students of all levels are welcome!! *Included in the price of your class is a 25lb bag of clay as well as 2.5 hours of open studio time per week, to be used immediately following your class time.   • Week 4 Pottery Camp Grades 7-12

    Learn how to throw on the wheel to make fun and functional ceramic pieces! Teens will learn the techniques needed to create ceramic dishware as well as hand built clay sculptures. The pieces will be fired in a kiln and then students will learn different glazing and painting techniques to create truly unique ceramics. Art projects differ each week.

  • Week 3 Grades K-2 Drawing and Painting

    The Itsy Bitsy Spider became a work of art! Campers will learn about a wide range of drawing and painting mediums while exploring the fascinating world of creepy crawlies.
