- Week 3 Grades 7-12: Creative Writing
Do you have a novel simmering in your mind, waiting to come to life? In this camp, you will explore several fundamental skills for effective creative writing. This isn’t a grammar lesson- we’ll be going into different brainstorming techniques, learning about character psychology and worldbuilding tools, and practicing techniques for writing descriptions and dialogues that make your story come to life. At the end of each camp day, you’ll get words down in your own novel draft as you engage in a writing battle with your teacher! Notebooks will be provided, but students are encouraged to bring their own devices if they prefer to write on computers.

Immerse your child in a creative experience and spark their artistic talents! Your child will acquire drawing and painting skills while exploring mixed media and artistic techniques. A fun, educational, age appropriate art class for the young art enthusiast. After School Art - Students experiment with an array of materials and tools including watercolor and acrylic paints, and chalk pastels. Class is held in your child's school and begins after the school day dismissal. Includes all supplies. You must send a change of dismissal form with your child notifying the school that your child attends this after school class. Once you've registered your child for this class, an email will be sent containing the form. Please fill it out and submit it to your school. If you would like to make arrangements to set up a payment plan; please call The Art Center at 770-623-8448. This camp will explore the fundamental observational drawing skills you need to understand anatomy and form for realistic figures and then utilize the principles of design to break the rules purposefully for effective and expressive characters!

Learn techniques for creating rich and layered pieces in this versatile medium from this sought after instructor. Former Second City instructor Amanda Rountree will lead campers in the process of concepting and developing theatrical sketches from improvised scenes. Learn the important skills for making compelling scenes from scratch and stretch your creative acting muscles!
- H. Spr) Kate N Wed PM Clay Sculpture
This ALL LEVEL sculpting class will focus on shapes, textures, and colors that make up the world around us and how to interpret them through clay. We will use the basics of handbuilding (coil, pinch, and slab techniques) to explore and expand your observational creativity. Strategies and techniques for completion, enhancing your creations through carving, surface treatments and techniques will be presented. This class is not project based. Students are encouraged to choose the type of sculpture or functional work would like to create. *Included in the price of your class is a 25lb bag of clay. Open studio hours will begin at 4pm on the day of your class. Students may purchase 1 additional bag of clay from The Art Center over the course of the session. For a total of 50lbs maximum per session. Tool kits must be purchased by students and are available at most Dick Blick and Michaels stores. *Upcharge for porcelain clay: 1st bag $20, 2nd bag $50. Clay can be purchased at the front desk.

This class is designed for teens interested in ceramic arts. Students will learn techniques to create beautiful clay works through handbuilding and the potter's wheel. Includes all supplies.
- Week 7 Grades 2-7: Tiny Treasures
Do you have a fascination with the teeny tiny? Create your own characters, toys, miniature food and jewelry collection! Students learn how to use polymer clay and other art materials to create small figurines, adorable animals, cute charms for keychains, earrings, necklaces, bracelets and much more. The possibilities are endless!
- Week 4 Grades 7-12 Teen Painting
Come create whimsical art! Working with a variety of media options, students will explore various drawing and painting techniques such as shading, brushwork, color mixing, hatching and cross hatching. We will work with charcoal, ink, watercolor, collage/cut paper, and acrylics. Each project will begin with concept sketches and reference images, then progress to a linework phase, then to the finished art. We will focus on making the most of the elements and principles of design while allowing students to flex their creative muscles in the process.
- Week 6 Grades K-2 Drawing and Painting
This camp is out of this world! Campers will learn how to use a wide range of drawing and painting media to explore the outer reaches of space with creative art projects.
- Week 2 Grades K-2 Drawing & Painting
Once upon a time there was a fun art camp that gave campers a chance to explore exciting new mediums in a creative environment. The campers learned to paint and draw and use mixed media to bring fairy tale creatures to life, and they lived happily ever after.
