  • Hand Paint a Velvet Scarf

    Students will be introduced to fiber-reactive dyes to create a luminous, vibrantly colored, oblong scarf. We will suspend a 9" x 42" silk/rayon scarf on a PVC frame and apply different techniques to the outstretched fabric, including the application of fluid and liquid dye. The result will be a soft, cozy and elegant accessory; perfect for Georgia's mild seasons! This class is appropriate for all levels of art skills. Ages 18+ Instructor fee of $25 paid directly to the instructor at the start of class.

  • Week 5 Grades 4-8 Creative Writing Camp

    This middle-grade camp will guide young writers at the beginning of their creative journey through the fundamentals of prose writing. Campers will learn the power of word choice, sentence structure, and a good hook, as well as explore concepts like mood, voice, and genre. Through individual and group exercises, campers will be tasked with brainstorming original characters, plots, conflicts, and worlds. By the end of the week, campers will produce a short work of their own creation.

  • Inspiration Collage Cards Workshop

    Joanne Easlick's Collage-Clip-Compose-Create Workshops are perfect for adults and teens looking to relax, recharge and get creative! We have a lot of fun in these workshops. Excellent for those that have collage as well as those that haven't yet explored this fun art form. These workshops will include using every printable material you can possibly imagine. Each session focuses on a different aspect of collage creation. We all need a little inspiration to pick up our spirits. In this collage workshop each person will choose an inspirational message that has a unique meaning meant to motivate or a goal they may want to achieve. Some examples: "Peace Begins with a Smile", "Learning has No Limits", "Kindness is free", Yes Girl You Can". Each person will complete a 4" x 6" canvas board collage, using scrap book papers, magazine photos and embellishments of their choice. Supplies: -If you have small scissors you like to use, please bring them along. All other supplies will be provided by the instructor. -If you'd like to bring in your choice of message, please send ahead of time so I can have it printed out and ready to go.     Immerse your child in a creative experience and spark their artistic talents! Your child will acquire drawing and painting skills while exploring mixed media and artistic techniques. A fun, educational, age appropriate art class for the young art enthusiast. After School Art - Students experiment with an array of materials and tools including watercolor and acrylic paints, and chalk pastels. Class is held in your child's school and begins after the school day dismissal. Includes all supplies. You must send a change of dismissal form with your child notifying the school that your child attends this after school class. Once you've registered your child for this class, an email will be sent containing the form. Please fill it out and submit it to your school. If you would like to make arrangements to set up a payment plan; please call The Art Center at 770-623-8448.     Join our 8-week All-Level Wheel Class, meeting every Wednesday night from 6-8:30 PM! Perfect for beginners and experienced potters. From centering clay to creating elaborate thrown forms. Enhance your skills and enjoy a relaxing and rewarding experience. *Included in the price of your class is a 25lb bag of clay as well as 2 hours of open studio time per week, to be used immediately prior to your class time. Students may purchase 1 additional bag of clay from The Art Center over the course of the session. For a total of 50lbs maximum per session. Tool kits must be purchased by students and are available at most Dick Blick and Michaels stores. *Upcharge for porcelain clay: 1st bag $20, 2nd bag $50. Clay can be purchased at the front desk.

  • Week 2 Grades 8-12: Teen Stand Up Comedy

    Learn to write stand-up comedy from scratch! Students will learn methods to write jokes based on fun facts, news stories, and personal anecdotes. Students will receive tips and personally curated direction on how to establish audience connection, pace jokes, and present themselves for optimal reactions and relatability in stand-up comedy performance. Each student will leave the class having written a stand-up set to perform in a showcase at the end of the camp.

    This camp is out of this world! Campers will learn how to use a wide range of drawing and painting media to explore the outer reaches of space with creative art projects.

  • Week 2 Grades 1-5: Create-A-Play

    Exercise your acting muscles in this fun collaborative camp! Campers will work together to make a play from scratch, learning different improv and acting techniques along the way. At the end of the camp, all the campers will get to perform in their one-of-a-kind play!

  • Week 5 Ceramics Camp Grades 2-6

    Learn how to create fun, decorative, and functional clay projects! Students will explore fundamental clay skills like pinch, coil, and slab to build their own ceramic creations. They will then learn glazing and surface decorating techniques to finish off their one-of-a-kind creations! Projects differ week to week.
