    Learn how to create fun, decorative, and functional clay projects! Students will explore fundamental clay skills like pinch, coil, and slab to build their own ceramic creations. They will then learn glazing and surface decorating techniques to finish off their one-of-a-kind creations! Projects differ week to week.

A fun, educational, age appropriate art class for the young art enthusiast. After School Art - Students experiment with an array of materials and tools including watercolor and acrylic paints, and chalk pastels. Class is held in your child's school and begins after the school day dismissal. Includes all supplies. You must send a change of dismissal form with your child notifying the school that your child attends this after school class. Once you've registered your child for this class, an email will be sent containing the form. Please fill it out and submit it to your school. If you would like to make arrangements to set up a payment plan; please call The Art Center at 770-623-8448.     Learn to recycle and make your own paper with Scraplanta! In this workshop we will experiment with: -Making paper pulp -Forming sheets -Decorating our paper -Collaging, and anything in between! Open to children and adults age 9+ Children 11 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

  • Spr) Portraits in Oil & Acrylic Fri AM

    This class will focus on realistic rendering of the human figure in oil and acrylic paintings. We will cover basic proportions, painting faces, and fabric folds. Composition, design and color mixing will also be addressed. Students will be encouraged to go the extra mile with preliminary drawings and color studies while working on their own paintings. Work at your own pace in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere. Each session features 3 instructor demonstrations. Because everyone's needs are different, supplies will be discussed during the first class. New students, bring your current painting in progress (if you have one) and any materials you already have. Returning students, bring your current painting and materials. Painting experience is recommended for this class.     Handbuilding - Beyond the Basics Dive deeper into the art of handbuilding ceramics in this intermediate-level course designed for those who have a basic understanding of clay techniques and are ready to expand their skills. You will explore advanced handbuilding methods, experimenting with texture, surface decoration, and complex forms while developing your own unique style. Must have completed four or more handbuilding courses or have equivalent experience. Please bring your own set of tools and your ideas to class. *Included in the price of your class is a 25lb bag of clay as well as 2.5 hours of open studio time per week, to be used immediately following your class. Students may purchase 1 additional bag of clay from The Art Center over the course of the session. For a total of 50lbs maximum per session. *Upcharge for porcelain clay: 1st bag $20, 2nd bag $50. Clay can be purchased at the front desk.

You'll love this Musical Theatre camp with team-building games, high energy musical theatre numbers, dramatic acting scenes, and a big show on Friday! 🎭 Act out scenes featuring your favorite characters from Camp Rock and HSM 🏀 Learn super-fun choreography and musical theatre numbers 🎤 Receive vocal training for dramatic solos and show-stopping ensemble numbers 🤣 Play improv & theatre games to bond as a team 🎶 Perform a big show on Friday for family and friends! 

  • Week 8 Grades 4-8: Anime

    Anime is a highly distinctive style of cartoon drawing which originated in Japan and enjoys immense worldwide popularity. Anime are the characters appearing in manga which are Japanese graphic novels and comic strips. There are a wide variety of manga appropriate for children through adult readers. Manga characters are instantly recognizable by their large eyes, highly stylized hair, fashionable clothing and overall expressive quality.

  • Week 9 Dynamic Drawing

    Learn about different styles using step-by-step techniques to draw and ink running figures, cartoon hands, legs, feet and more. Create your own comic book characters and design your own comic book. In this drawing-focused camp, students learn techniques and tricks of the trade allowing them to create realistic and effective artwork.

  • K-3 Spring Break Camp

    Campers will use a variety of art materials to create original work including watercolor and acrylic paints, chalk pastels, and collage. This age appropriate curriculum is based on a playful approach to art; teaching fine art techniques, art history, and building confidence. Your student will create a variety of 2D and 3D projects that truly shine! Created specifically for kids in grades K-2, held at The Art Center Children requiring a personal assistant or one-to-one (1:1) support must be accompanied by their direct support professional.

    In this class we will be creating both fun and functional pieces using the basics of handbuilding- coil, pinch, and slab. We will also explore different surface decorations such as sgraffito, slip trailing, and wax resist. This class is not project based, so bring your ideas! Students of all levels are welcome!! *Included in the price of your class is a 25lb bag of clay as well as 2.5 hours of open studio time per week, to be used immediately following your class time. Students may purchase 1 additional bag of clay from The Art Center over the course of the session. For a total of 50lbs maximum per session. Tool kits must be purchased by students and are available at most Dick Blick and Michaels stores. *Upcharge for porcelain clay: 1st bag $20, 2nd bag $50. Clay can be purchased at the front desk.
