You're Invited to Come Party with The Art Center!

The Art Center is celebrating its 30th birthday this Saturday with a big birthday bash, and you’re invited!
This fun and free event has something for all ages, so it’s the perfect day to come out with the family and enjoy some creative birthday activities. For adults, we have demos from several of our adult class instructors, free try-it classes for drawing and watercolor, adult improv party games, and Art Center Bingo for prizes. For the young and young at heart, we have a face painter, a balloon artist, all-ages crafts (including air dry clay make-and-takes), sidewalk chalk and bubbles, kids improv party games, and photo booth props for making fun memories.
This event also doubles as our reception and awards ceremony for Celebration: Thirty Years of Creativity, the Spring Student and Member Showcase. The Art Center community has come together to create a truly astounding show in a wide range of mediums and subject matter. The show just opened this past Friday, so this is a great opportunity to get an early look at the work on display, to meet the artists, or to celebrate your own work if you are one of the exhibiting artists! The birthday party will transition to the more traditional reception environment at around 5:00 PM.

2:00 PM-4:30 PM: General come-and-go activities in the Main Building
Visual & Ceramics Adult Instructor Live Art Demos
Air Dry Clay Make and Take Projects
All Ages Arts and Crafts
Face Painting and Balloon Animals
Live Printmaking Demo and Giveaway
Bubbles and Sidewalk Chalk
2:20-2:50 PM: Adult Drawing & Watercolor Mini Class (Limited to 12 seats- Annex)
Susan Calderon will be guiding you through a simple drawing, finishing it with watercolor and a touch of colored pencil details. Take home a small watercolor palette!
3:00-3:30 PM: Kids Improv Party Games- Annex
Amanda Rountree will lead kids in fun and active group improv games and activities!
3:30-4:00 PM: Adults Improv Party Games- Annex
Adults and older teens can connect to their inner child and loosen up with fun improv party games. Amanda Rountree creates an inclusive and easygoing environment to just have fun, no experience required!
4:15-4:45 PM: Adult Drawing & Watercolor Mini Class (Limited to 12 Seats) -Annex
If you missed Susan's first class, this is an opportunity to hop in and get some drawing and watercolor experience!
4:30-5:00 PM: Art Center Bingo for prizes (including fine art supplies provided by Debra Yaun, limited to 30 players) -Room 2
Play a fun game of Art Center-themed Bingo! Winners get to choose from a selection of prizes, including art prints and fine art supplies!
5:00 PM: Blowing out candles
While cupcakes will be available throughout the event, we're breaking out a symbolic mini-cake for the official candle blowing! Our Deputy Director, Samson Tarpeh, will accompany us on piano as we sing Happy Birthday to The Art Center and collectively blow out the candle with the fans decorated in our craft room!
5:00-6:00 PM: Reception and Awards for Celebration: Thirty Years of Creativity
Mix and mingle with the artists while you enjoy light refreshments and a relaxed atmosphere!
Everything at the Birthday Bash is free and open to the public. There will be donation boxes available if you would like to bring cash to make a contribution toward funding free events like this one, but the greatest present is your presence. Let your friends, families, neighbors, book clubs, and pickleball courts know about it and we hope to see you there!
