Service Description
Prerequisite required! Registrants MUST have taken at least TWO ceramics classes previously. This class will allow us to work toward marrying the form with unique and creative surface design techniques. Created for both hand builders and wheel throwing artists, we will push the edge on both form building and surface techniques. Students will be introduced to carving, altering, and stamping to compliment the surface technique selected. During the class we will explore the fiber process to make paper clay, create our own terra sigillata, and make borax washes to enhance the properties/originality of our work. You will learn about slow firing, crystalline firing and low firing for terra sigillata and what it expect and how these methods can enhance the desired outcome of your designs. 2 prior ceramic classes required. 2.5 hours of open studio time immediately following class. Class meets for 6 weeks and is priced accordingly. Low fire clay will be provided by instructor. Students must bring their own clay tools.

Cancellation Policy
1. The Art Center reserves the right to cancel classes or camps due to insufficient enrollment. If The Art Center cancels a class or camp, registrants will receive a refund. We reserve the right to substitute an instructor if necessary. 2. The Art Center does not pro-rate class or camp fees. 3. Membership fees are non-refundable. 4. Four business days notice must be given before the start of the first class if you wish to cancel. 5. Registration changes and cancellations will incur an administrative fee of $30. 6. Refunds will be processed within 30 days after the 1st day of the start of class. 6a. For high demand classes: if you cancel your registration and vacate your seat, we will retain 50% of your initial registration fee to pay the instructor, if the seat cannot be filled. This is in addition to the $30 administration fee. 7. No refunds will be issued for cancellations made after the beginning of the class or camp.
