Service Description
This class is for the beginner painter as well as those who have some experience. I will be using oils but you are welcome to use acrylic paints. What you will learn: Painting tools and how to use them. Basic drawing skills and exercises. Value and Color Theory Our goal is to complete a painting by the end of the class. At the beginning of each class I will be demonstrate exercises that will help guide the student to a greater understanding of planning a design, creating a value structure, and blending colors that are harmonious. Supply List: Sketch pad (9x12) , sketching pencils, pencil eraser and kneaded eraser Color Wheel Palette knife: I prefer the RGM palette knives as they are more flexible, One small and one medium Brushes: Any brushes that you have please bring. A good supply are Synthetic brushes in Flats: size 12 - 4; Filberts: size 8 - 2; Round: size 2-1 Paper towels: Scott’s shop towels or Viva cloth-like paper towels If you prefer to wear gloves, please use latex free disposable gloves. Paints: Any brand you would like. We will be using a limited palette Cadmium yellow light, pale, or lemon Cadmium red Ultramarine blue Titanium White Ivory Black or Chromatic black Canvases: 1: 12 x 16, any other small size canvas that you would like to use: 8x10, 9x12, 11x14 If you are using oils: Masterson’s Palette box 12 x 16. Gray Matters Palette paper for oil Solvent: Gamsol oderless mineral spirits and solvent container Medium: Gamblin non-solvent medium for oils If you are using acrylics please have the following: Masterson’s Palette box 12x16, acrylic palette paper and sponge to fit box so that paints do not dry out (Palette sponge may be sold separately). Small spray bottle Water container By the end of this session, you will have a clearer understanding and roadmap to creating a successful painting. Get your paint brushes and ideas ready!
Cancellation Policy
1. The Art Center reserves the right to cancel classes or camps due to insufficient enrollment. If The Art Center cancels a class or camp, registrants will receive a refund. We reserve the right to substitute an instructor if necessary. 2. The Art Center does not pro-rate class or camp fees. 3. Membership fees are non-refundable. 4. Four business days notice must be given before the start of the first class if you wish to cancel. 5. Registration changes and cancellations will incur an administrative fee of $30. 6. Refunds will be processed within 30 days after the 1st day of the start of class. 6a. For high demand classes: if you cancel your registration and vacate your seat, we will retain 50% of your initial registration fee to pay the instructor, if the seat cannot be filled. This is in addition to the $30 administration fee. 7. No refunds will be issued for cancellations made after the beginning of the class or camp.
