Learn about different styles using step-by-step techniques to draw and ink running figures, cartoon hands, legs, feet and more. Create your own comic book characters and design your own comic book. In this drawing focused class taught by a professional illustrator, students learn techniques and tricks of the trade allowing them to create realistic and effective artwork. This is an ideal class for the young artist interested in learning storyboarding and effective illustration techniques. Students hone their observational skills strengthening the ability to communicate ideas and thoughts through drawings. The class will teach anatomy, dynamic poses, shading, scene creation, blocking and how to draw movement. They learn character creation and how to effectively integrate their characters into convincing scenes. Students will explore rapid visualization techniques and learn to refine and edit their drawings. This class is designed for youth students in grades 6-12. Includes all supplies.

Students will be encouraged to go the extra mile with preliminary drawings and color studies while working on their own paintings. Work at your own pace in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere. Each session features 3 instructor demonstrations of advanced painting techniques. This class will delve deeper into color theory, mixing, and application, as well as, composition and design strategies. Because everyone's needs are different, supplies will be discussed during the first class. New students, bring your current painting in progress (if you have one) and any materials you already have. Create your own characters, toys, miniature food and jewelry collection! Do you have a fascination with the teeny tiny? Join our Tiny Treasures class. Students learn how to use polymer clay and other art materials to create small figurines, adorable animals cute charms for keychains, earrings, necklaces, bracelets and much more. The possibilities are endless! Class projects include a mini game board, charm bracelet, a mini flower arrangement in a polymer clay vase and a tiny canvas painting complete with easel. No previous experience is needed for this class. Just bring a desire to learn and unlock your creative spirit! This class will also allow parents to stop by for any of the daily workshops for a small fee of $30 per class. Drop in payment will be accepted upon arrival.
- The Figure in Clay with Mike Lalone
The Figure in Clay with Mike Lalone The focus of this class will be modeling the human figure in three dimensions. Learn the difference between armature and non-armature related construction. Students will approach the figure by building from the inside out. Muscles and skin are added as we build up fullness on the torso. Arms, legs and head will be modeled and added to the torso. After the figure is complete, we will hollow out overly thick areas to be able to fire the piece. Figures will be from 9 to 12 inches in size. Tools: Tools can range from professional sculpting tools to ga few basic loop and wood carving tools. No need for huge expense. Get a few loop tools for digging out clay, a skewer stick or two, popsicle sticks and we are on our way! - Week 5 Grades 4-8 Creative Writing Camp
This middle-grade camp will guide young writers at the beginning of their creative journey through the fundamentals of prose writing. Campers will learn the power of word choice, sentence structure, and a good hook, as well as explore concepts like mood, voice, and genre. Through individual and group exercises, campers will be tasked with brainstorming original characters, plots, conflicts, and worlds. By the end of the week, campers will produce a short work of their own creation.

A fun, educational, age appropriate art class for the young art enthusiast. After School Art - Students experiment with an array of materials and tools including watercolor and acrylic paints, and chalk pastels. Class is held in your child's school and begins after the school day dismissal. Includes all supplies. You must send a change of dismissal form with your child notifying the school that your child attends this after school class. Once you've registered your child for this class, an email will be sent containing the form. Please fill it out and submit it to your school. - Fall) Soy Wax Batik & Silk Painting: Sep
This four week mini session is an exploration of expressive abstract techniques applied to silk. A contemporary approach to Batik, resulting in stunning fine art for wall hangings or unique wearable scarves. Working on a 22”x22” silk square suspended and stretched on a frame, students will employ a loose, abstract and painterly approach to create whimsical and abstract painterly compositions. Participants may bring a collection of floral photos as reference, or refer to available images provided by the instructor. Absolutely no painting or drawing experience necessary! This is an opportunity for participants to free themselves up to create intuitive, expressive and emotional art on silk. Students should bring paper towels and disposable gloves Supply fee of $25.00 payable to the instructor at the first class.
